CEO Announces Retirement for 2025

Celebrating Glen McKenzie

For more than 24 years, Glen McKenzie has worn some shade of green to work.  That’s because he has faithfully served DATCU in various capacities during that tenure, most recently as the credit union’s CEO.

But perhaps there are different colors in McKenzie’s future.

“I am happy to announce that I am retiring from DATCU on June 30th of 2025,” said McKenzie.  “I have seen an incredible amount of change over the last two and a half decades here, and I am confident that my retirement comes at the right time.”

Under McKenzie’s leadership, DATCU grew significantly in membership and asset size. Perhaps as impressive as its financial growth, the credit union has scored a perfect 300 rating from IDC Financial Publishing for nine consecutive quarters.

“We are in a good position for the future,” McKenzie adds.  “We have a strong Board of Directors, a great leadership team, and awesome employees that will continue to provide steady growth.”

DATCU’s Board of Directors agrees.

“Glen’s record of success at DATCU speaks for itself,” says Lee Howell, current DATCU Board Chair.  “We have been fortunate to watch Glen’s banking acumen grow DATCU to $1.6 billion in assets, and it’s an appropriate testimony to his diligence and leadership.  We are grateful for his faithful stewardship of the credit union.”

McKenzie leaves behind a credit union that has served North Texas communities since 1936 and has recently deepened its roots with a naming rights partnership with the University of North Texas.  With more than 13 branches and plans to expand, DATCU is poised to transition well.

“Before I decided to retire, I wanted to make sure the credit union was setup for future growth, and I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Melanie Vest to achieve that goal,” McKenzie says.

Vest is DATCU’s current President and will assume the Chief Executive Officer title upon McKenzie’s retirement.

“I have learned a great deal from Glen, and I am honored to follow him as DATCU’s next CEO,” says Vest.  “I don’t take lightly the vote of confidence he and the Board have given me by naming me to this role.”

Vest has been with DATCU for more than twenty years and has deep ties to the area.  She began her career as a teller while completing her degree at the University of North Texas.  She has served as President for the past four years.

“Melanie has our full support,” says Howell.  “We have seen her lead in a number of ways and know that under her guidance, DATCU will continue to thrive.”
